Course Outline

A Diploma in Hospitality Management equips graduates with the skills needed to work in the world's leading businesses such as: boutique hotels, resorts, luxury day spas, restaurants and the travel industry - they all need world class management.

The Programme is a blend of practical training with business theory giving graduates a competitive advantage to match their career ambitions. QRC Diploma in Hospitality Management

Students are awarded a New Zealand Diploma in Hotel Management (Level 6)

QRC delivers a Level 6 Diploma in Hospitality Management which blends theory, practical and professionalism. This enables the QRC Graduate to have the required skill set and management capability to provide immediate value to an employer.

The fully paid internship is a key component of the programme as it provides students a "real life" application to the first year of theory. The internship is vital for creating opportunities within the industry but more importantly it provides the student with a unique learning and mentoring experience which ultimately increases their value.

QRC enables Graduates to enter the industry as professional practitioners who progress to management level positions at an accelerated rate.

Course Structure 

The Diploma Programme consists of 2 terms (11 weeks each) on Campus, followed by a 9 month Internship, culminating with a final 2 terms on Campus.

During the first 2 terms you will undertake practical skill-based training combined with the relevant theory. There will be approximately 32 hours on Campus per week.

During your internship you will be placed in recognised paid employment with a hotel, resort or hospitality based business for a minimum of 1000 hours industry training.

In year 2 the focus is on management strategies and practices. 

Electives

As part of the programme students in term 2 get to select an elective of either Event Management or Wine Studies. Electives focus on specialised areas of the industry which provide a practical insight.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) will be granted where your prior study or work experience is considered to be equivalent to all the learning outcomes for a particular QRC paper.
